Clinical Lecturer (CL) Recruitment 2020

HEE London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex will be advertising a number of Clinical Lecturer (CL) posts in 2020. Please see the table below for a full list of Specialties, institutions and grades.

All successful applicants for Clinical Lecturer posts must hold a current National Training Number (NTN) in the corresponding specialty by the post start date.  Applicants who do not already hold an NTN number are permitted to apply for CL posts, but must clinically benchmark in order to take up the post.  Clinical Benchmarking is achieved by applying to the relevant specialty training programme in the national recruitment round (round 2 for ST3+ vacancies) and being found appointable at interview.

If you already hold an NTN number in the CL specialty you wish to apply, you are not required to clinically benchmark.

This means If you do not already hold an NTN number in the specialty, you must submit an application to the corresponding specialty in the national round and a separate application to the CL vacancy.

The national recruitment round opens for applications on 29th January and closes for applications on 19th February 2020.  CL posts in London and KSS will open for application from 15th April up to 31st August 2020.  Not all CL vacancies will be advertised on 15th April, please refer to the proposed recruitment window and the corresponding ‘Academic Recruitment Windows’ timetable below for expected opening dates (subject to change).

Advice to non-NTN holders

As the national round opens before the CL applications open, you are advised to apply to the corresponding specialty in the national recruitment round opening on 29th January as there will be no further opportunities to benchmark for the majority of the specialties listed below.

We unfortunately cannot offer a CL post to applicants who do not already hold an NTN or have not already undergone clinical benchmarking under any circumstances.
