Accredited multi-professional supervision course for educators in primary care

The primary care school and faculty development team within NHS England’s Workforce Training and Education Directorate are delighted to offer the multi-professional supervision course for primary care.

Course overview

The course consists of four in-person study days held over a three-month period:

  • study day 1: Course introduction, preparing to teach and facilitate in the workplace
  • study day 2: Understanding and navigating the challenges to supervision; core concepts in lesson planning and teaching
  • study day 3: Interprofessional education and assessment
  • study day 4: Peer review, portfolio review and discussion, next steps

Following successful completion of the course and assessment, an application for the educator and learning environment to be formally recognised is via the Workforce, Training and Education directorate of NHS England’s quality processes, which is managed through your local Training Hub.

Eligibility criteria

This course is for multi-professional primary care educators with 1 to 2 years post graduate experience who have relevant mentoring, supervision, and education experience in their clinical specialty, who work in a learning environment and wish to become a primary care educator.

Cohorts and course days

Cohorts are held throughout the year. 100% attendance in person on all four of the course dates is required for completion of the course.
