Specialist Clinical Communication & Linguistic Services
KSS Medical Foundation and GP trainees: You should access support services via the KSS’s own Professional Support & Wellbeing Service. Please head to KSS Professional Support and Wellbeing Service for more information.
Please note: As a result of national changes in NHSE and a review of PSU services, the service will be pausing self-referrals for those residents who are currently on an outcome 1.
We continue to be committed to supporting all residents who would benefit from extra support and therefore will continue to welcome referrals for residents with an outcome 1, but from their educators only, following a discussion about the reasons for referral.
The referral can be from any clinical educator involved in the residents training, including CS, ES, college tutor, DME and TPD
The process for ARCP 1 outcome for educators to follow is as below:
1.Use the PSU Educator referral application form. Link to the Educator application form is here: PSU Application form - ES outcome 1 referral – Fill in form
Please do not use any of the other application forms e.g coaching, communication skills.
2. Fill in the resident's information as far as you can. Ideally complete the form whilst you are with the resident to ensure the information is accurate and their preferred email address is documented.
3: Include your information and why the referral is being made. Please start with “This is a referral being made by an Educator and I have the resident's consent to make this referral".
4: The Business Support Officer running the PSU inbox will then make the appropriate allocation to the PSU team.
Please have a look at the different services we have and apply directly to the one you would like to as this often means we can process your request more quickly. Alternatively, if you are unsure of what services would be most useful or you would like to access multiple services, please complete the following application form. Due to the high volume of PSU application we receive, we will endeavour to respond to queries and applications within 14 days.
On occasions, we also accept referrals from Heads of School, Associate Deans and Training Programme Directors however we prefer to encourage self-referral as it helps with ongoing engagement and better outcomes. We would therefore ask senior educators that are considering referring someone to first share our information (including our confidential and impartial advice SPOC service) with the trainee and give then time to self refer to us first.
