Trainees,

For trainees wishing to take time Out of Programme from Wednesday 5th October 2022, the application window will open at noon on 31st January 2022 and the deadline for submitting your application is at noon on Sunday 10th April 2022. By this date, all applications should be submitted to the O & G Team by selecting the Out of programme/Acting up option and completing the form on the portal via the following link:https://lasepgmdesupport.hee.nhs.uk/support/home?trainee.

Please note that you must also upload a completed copy of the OOP/Acting Up signatory form which can be found via the same link. All trainees going out on OOP are required to complete and submit SupporTT paperwork as part of the application process. The SupporTT Pre-Absence Form can be found here: https://healtheducationyh.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/supportt-preabsence-form2

You can no longer apply using the old OOP form, only applications submitted via the link above will be accepted.

This deadline also applies to those wishing to extend their current OOP. Any applications received after this date will not be presented to the panel. The deadline is to ensure that we meet the Code of Practice with regard to notifying trainees and Trusts of placements within the agreed timescales and in line with the Gold Guide  recommendation of 6 months’ notice of application.

If your OOP application is conditionally approved, please note that you will need to provide the outstanding evidence by the deadline set by the OOP panel. This will be sent to you after the panel convenes.

Please note that if you are an NIHR funded ACF or CL and go on OOP, your funding and post will be withdrawn by the NIHR. Careful consideration should be given when applying for OOP and discussions held with the NIHR academic representative for your region and your TPD. We are unable to guarantee that you will be placed in a post immediately on return to the training programme.

OOP start and end dates should be in line with the rotation dates (October/April).

The application should be accompanied by:

·         OOP/Acting Up signatory form

·         SupporTT Pre-Absence Form

·         CV

·         Full Job Description on headed paper

·         Timetable of daily or weekly activity - for OOPR applications the timetable must reflect at least 80% research time

·         Proof/Confirmation that OOPR of 3 years will lead to registration of higher degree (MD or PhD)

·         For OOPR - Ethical Approval and funding should be sought and evidence provided

·         Offer Letter or Application Form

If you are applying for an extension to your existing OOP please submit a fresh application and job description even if the job has not changed since your last application.

If the OOP is counting towards training and your application has been approved, please seek prospective approval from the RCOG for time to count towards training. We shall seek final approval from the GMC once we are in receipt of the RCOG approval. This process MUST be completed before commencement of the OOP.
