RCA practice session

We are offering short individual virtual sessions to practice scenarios with an experienced GP educator who delivers training on our CSA course, an experienced linguist and a specialist role player.

When offered a session, please ask your educational supervisor to attend too if possible, that way they will get a chance to watch you practise parts of the consultation that have been challenging -eg sharing management. This will give you the opportunity to practise further in subsequent tutorials, with your supervisor having been privy to the feedback given by the facilitators.  You will gain most from this session if you do it approximately 3 months before you plan to submit your videos.

The session is delivered via MS Teams and should last no more than 2 hours. You will have the opportunity to:

  • discuss with the facilitator your expectations and how to make the most of this opportunity
  • review your consultation/communication skills via role play with specialist simulators, of conversations or situations you find challenging
  • verbal feedback to help identify your personal strengths and use these to rehearse fresh approaches and skills
  • work with a linguist on specific language challenges

Eligibility

These sessions are for GPST3 trainees:

  • with a London & KSS training number
  • wishing to prepare for an upcoming RCA exam and
  • who have previously been unsuccessful at the RCA or CSA exam or
  • who have been identified by their educational supervisor and/or programme director/associate dean as being at risk of failing the exam.

Places are very limited and will be offered initially to those we identify as ‘priority’.   If you have already attended a session on a previous occasion or very recently, we may not be able to offer you a place as soon as possible but will include your details on a waiting list should places become available.

Fee: £0

NOTE:

  • This is a free, fully funded, session which has been designed and arranged as per your application and learning requirements
  • Following session confirmation, should your circumstances change and you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so that your session time can be offered to those on the waiting list
